Educational AnimationsWe specialize in creating 2-D and 3-D animations to illustrate biological processes, ophthalmic and medical conditions, and treatments. Animation is an extremely powerful and effective method of presenting complex concepts that may be difficult to convey in any other way. We invite you to see samples of our animation work on this page and throughout the iKnow Web site. |
Scientific and Medical AnimationsBelow are some samples of our animations created for various audiences. Inside The KneeRed blood cells, platelets, and fibroblast cells are pumped single-file down a capillary in the injured knee. Signal And Receptor ProteinsA cascade of protein interactions transmits a signal from the exterior of the cell, through the plasma membrane, and onward toward the nucleus. The CytoskeletonThe cytoskeleton is made up of many tiny fibers: microtubules, microfilaments, actin, and myosin. These fibers and filaments can elongate or contract rapidly, allowing the cell to modify its size and shape. The MitochondriaThe activated protein signal travels past several glowing mitochondria and folds of rough endoplasmic reticulum as it nears the nucleus. The NucleusThe signal enters the nucleus through one of many nuclear pores, or gated channels in the nuclear membrane. Inside the nucleus, the signal will initiate the transcription of a specific segment of RNA. The Golgi ApparatusIn the Golgi apparatus, proteins manufactured by the ribosomes are modified, packaged, and sent to various parts of the cell. Vision and Eye AnimationsFlight into the EyeAs you fly into the eye, you will travel through the cornea and slide past the iris and lens into the vitreous chamber. In the vitreous, which is filled with a thick, clear gel, you will approach the optic nerve, the macula, and the retina lining the back of the eye. Dry Macular DegenerationIn the Dry (Atrophic) form of Macular Degeneration, waste products called drusen accumulate underneath the photoreceptors in the retina. Over time, some photoreceptors may die, leaving blank spots, holes, or distortions in your vision where the retina has been damaged. |
